Our Work: DesignMyNight

Back in 2012 - when Rose + Penguin was nothing more than a twinkle in our eyes - you’d have found me at DesignMyNight (the UK’s most popular nightlife discovery site).

Joint-first employee, head of my own department of 1, and owner of perhaps just a little too much hair; it’s the place I learned the most about digital marketing and making your budget (or lack of) work for you through target-specific, strategic content planning.

Fast forward to 2018; the company was successfully acquired by a leading UK software house for a price in excess of £25m, it was garnering millions of monthly users, boasted impressive ranking positions across all target keywords, and at that point had expanded out of London and now had coverage of 20 cities and towns across the UK & Ireland.

And the best part? My content strategy over the entirety of the 5.5 years was solely reliant on organic SEO.

So how did we achieve the growth from 40k monthly users to 1.5m in 2018?

It was easy.

A solid, consistent, but smart content strategy that centred around opportunity was the name of the game; we opted to take on realistic SEO battles to start, rather than pooling all our resources behind any at-the-time unattainable targets. Using gap analysis and our own data, we were eventually able to compete and succeed in all keyword/phrase targets in the space.

And your business can too!

Taking the learnings from DesignMyNight, we suggest a data-driven plan coupled with a creative, informative content approach to make-up your content strategy.

Everything you do has to make sense for your brand; and that’s where we can help.
